Tips from 2's 101

  • Give your two year old an environment where they can learn by playing.  Whatever they need to learn will be naturally fun for them. 
  • Give them a safe place with lots of interesting things to play with, freedom to explore.
  •  Often, but not always, talk to them about the things they are interested in at the moment: give them words to go with their exploration.

What's a 2-ism?

A "trueism" is a statement that is so obviously true that it couldn't be argued with: "When you go somewhere, you take yourself with you." So 2-isms must be something that is clearly true about two year olds.

One of my favorite 2-isms "Two year olds watch us and copy us."  The video and photos with each 2-ism should open your understanding and make watching twos more fun than ever.  Watch for these behaviors and you will certainly see it.  Encourage or give opportunities for them to do these things and you will both have a lot of fun!
